06.15.00 3GS Downgrade & GPS Fix | Latest Redsn0w Update

The iPhone Dev Team is happy to announce a baseband downgrade option in redsn0w for those who are using the iPad’s 06.15 baseband on the iPhone3G or iPhone3GS.

The redsn0w update is out
Typically you’d have the 06.15 baseband if you unlock with ultrasn0w but updated your iPhone baseband past 05.13.04.  With this new capability, you can now downgrade specifically from 06.15 to 05.13.04 (even if you never had 05.13.04 on that device before).  This gives you the best of both worlds: ultrasn0w compatibility and a normal iPhone baseband with full GPS and the ability to use stock IPSWs again. There will be a new version of Redsn0w (NOR fix) released on the 28th of June if you are having issues with the downgrade and followed the steps below, read hereThose who are having trouble try these instructions: Have an internet connection. Then follow the following steps:

1. Download latest iTunes
2. Backup your phone in iTunes
3. Download 5.1.1 IPSW
4. Download latest Redsn0w
5. Clear the cache in Redsn0w
6. Select / navigate to the 5.1.1 IPSW in Extras
7. Go back and select jailbreak
8. Untick install cydia
9. Check baseband downgrade
10. Turn your phone off, slide to switch off
11. Then follow the prompts for DFU mode
12. After complete open iTunes
13. Restore via the IPSW you downloaded
14. Run redsn0w and check install cydia
15. Open iTunes again
16. Restore from Backup

If you are getting a 60000ms error on your iphone after a jailbreak with
redsnow, your only option is to snow breeze on a windows os. After you
download the 5.1.1 iswp file and have the current version of itunes. Use
snowbreeze to create a custom ispw. After that is finished use ireb in
snowbreeze to enter pwned dfu mode. Then restore from your custom ispw file
that you made from snow breeze and set up as a new phone.

NOTE If you get a 3014 error from itunes make sure you have enough room on your hardrive (AKA not red) you have a good internet connection, and briefly turn off your firewall till you jailbreak your iPhone. If you still get the 3014 error go here( ) and follow the steps to fix your host file. If you still get the 3014 error use a different computer to restore to the custom firmware you made, and then use iBooty to boot your idevise tethered.

Before you start all the steps i said, ensure that your phone actually boots up,
do not try when you have no screen or the apple booting screen, or the
greenpoison screen or a white screen.
Here are the download links.  Enjoy!
Official steps from the dev team blog:

Use the “Extras->Select IPSW” button in redsn0w to tell it which firmware version you have installed (new-bootrom 3GS users can usually skip this step but it doesn’t hurt for them to do it too).
  1. Do a controlled shutdown of your iPhone (“slide to power off”).  This step is very important to avoid mount problems when the ramdisk is running!
  1. Go back to the first screen and click “Jailbreak”.  Enable the “Downgrade from iPad baseband” checkbox, disable Cydia if you already have it installed, and click Next proceed through the normal DFU ramdisk steps.
If you get this error: the iphone 3gs is already jailbroken with rocky racoon, turn your phone off and try again

After the ramdisk gets launched and you see the running Pwnapple, you’ll eventually get to the “Flashing Baseband” step.  THIS STEP TAKES A VERY LONG TIME to complete and there won’t be any feedback while its running.  Please just let it be for the next 3-8 minutes!  When the ramdisk has done its job it will reboot the phone on its own.

For those who are wondering if you can update your 3G or 3GS to 06.15 solely for the purposes of downgrading to 05.13.04, the answer is “yes” for 3G owners, and “maybe” for 3GS owners.  The iPad baseband is not compatible with 3GS units manufactured week 34 of 2011 or later.  If you have an iPhone3GS and if digits 3-5 of its Serial Number are 134 or later (xx134…), then you should NOT try to install the 06.15 baseband on your 3GS!  It will brick your radio, preventing both the downgrade from working and normal iPhone software from using it as a phone!

You can find your serial number in Settings > General > About > Serial Number

3GS new bootroom users have been waiting up to a 1.5 years to get their GPS functionality back. Now you can. Many thought it would never happen, some were hoping, some bought new devices and some found workarounds in the way of using a Bluetooth GPS Logger. Here is a easy and quick how to tutorial of how to downgrade :)

Stay on your current iOS version
Step 1: Download the latest Redsn0w
Step 2: Plug your phone in
Step 3: Click on Baseband Downgrade
Finally! good news, the wait is over, MuscleNerd has just released his downgrade option for those who are on the notorious baseband 06.15.00 that ruined the GPS and made them unstable with loss of signal / reception and wifi.

The Benefits
Not only will this fix the GPS but it will make your device look like it was never jailbroken or unofficially unlocked. It will also make your iPhone warranty valid and not void, or at least not so bleeding obvious you jailbreak'ed it by installing an iPad baseband.

This will also enable you to get your phone officially unlocked through your carrier, possibly for free, which will mean you will not need to install Ultrasn0w.

You can Upgrade or Downgrade to Any Version
Any 3G / 3GS (old [note you can use fuzzyband for old bootroom] and new bootroms) above 05.13.04 can be temporarily and safely updated to 06.15 BB for the purpose of downgrading to the official 05.13.04.

Step 1: Download the latest Redsn0w for windows or mac (not available yet)
Step 2: Download your correct IPSW for your device and version (latest: 5.1.1)
Step 3: Ensure you have the latest version of iTunes for your system, if not:

Download iTunes 10.6.3 (64 bit Win)
Download iTunes 10.6.3 (32 bit Win)
Download iTunes 10.6.3 (32 / 64 bit Mac)

Step 4: Open up Redsn0w and click Extras > Custom IPSW

Step 5: Navigate to where you downloaded the IPSW
Step 6: Plug your iPhone into your computer via USB
Step 7: Open iTunes
Step 8: Right click on your device in the left hand pane and click backup
Step 9: Jailbreak (follow the helpful instructions in Redsn0w)
Step 10: Open iTunes, go to summary > version
Step 11: Click the Restore button through: Alt + Click, and navigate to the custom IPSW you created.
Step 12: Downgrade the baseband in Redsn0w
Step 13: Restore from Backup in iTunes
Step 14: Setup your Jailbroken iPhone once again :)

Note: If you are upgrading to a higher version of iOS, open up Cydia's home page to ensure that your SHSH blobs are listed in green at the top of the page
